COUNSELING

The theoretical and practical foundations of my work proceed from the depth psychologies, specifically that of C. G. Jung and Relational Psychoanalysis, is person-focused and relationship-centered. I hold to an understanding that we are conceived in relationship, formed in relationship, harmed in relationship, and transformed through relationship. As such I also attend to the dynamics between patient and therapist, and so it is important that we collaborate and make individual treatment decisions together. Consultation focuses on understanding your symptoms and the causes of those symptoms. We may focus on your personal and relationship concerns, including that of the therapeutic relationship, early developmental issues and your unique history. The nature and course of your treatment depends on individual need.

Education & Training

I hold a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the Pacifica Graduate Institute, Santa Barbara, CA, and B.A. and M.A. degrees in theology from Biola University and Talbot School of Theology, La Mirada, CA. I work with individuals, couples and families in private practice, and currently serve on the post-graduate faculty of the Tampa Bay Institute for Psychoanalytic Studies. Previous teaching assignments include Rollins College, The Seattle School of Psychology & Theology and the University of Central Florida.

Confidentiality and Exceptions to Confidentiality

Our communications are considered private and confidential and will not be shared with any other person unless you provide written authorization. Legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality are: (1) if you are a danger to yourself or others or become gravely disabled; or (2) if the information shared involves abuse of dependent adults, vulnerable adults, children or the developmentally disabled; or (3) if your records are subpoenaed by a court of law.

Financial Information | Psychotherapy

I bill each month via a single invoice emailed to you. I accept electronic payments via direct deposit (ACH), and the Zelle banking platform is preferred.

I do not accept insurance or file insurance claims. However, the monthly statement you receive provides the information needed to submit a claim to your insurance company for out of network reimbursement directly to you. Please do not submit claims to Medicare as I am not a Medicare provider. Fees are adjusted annually, and I consider open discussion of the financial dimensions of our work an important part of our process.

Appointment / Cancellation Policy

I provide consultation with the understanding that our mutually established appointment time becomes your financial responsibility. The same fee is collected for missed or canceled appointments as for attended sessions. If you cancel 24 hours or more before your appointment time you will not be charged. I will advise in advance of times that I will be away from the office, and customarily observe national holidays and take vacation time and/or professional leave during Christmas, Easter and summer.
